FINICKY BEE FINDS
A documentary series exploring the objects, histories, makers, materials, and discoveries behind collectible finds.
THE SERIES
Finicky Bee Finds follows the journey of collectible objects from the moment they are discovered through research, documentation, photography, and storytelling.
Each find begins with curiosity. What is it? Who made it? When was it made? What was it used for? What evidence can help tell its story?
The answers are not always immediate, and they are not always certain. The documentary process follows the evidence and preserves the questions that remain.
BEHIND EACH FIND
An object catches the eye and begins its journey through the Finicky Bee process.
Physical characteristics, materials, construction, marks, labels, and other visible evidence are carefully examined.
Available evidence is studied alongside documented sources, maker information, historical references, and comparable examples.
Findings, observations, photographs, and supporting details become part of the object's record.
The research becomes a documentary story that helps connect the object with the people, places, materials, and history surrounding it.

A RECORD OF DISCOVERY
Finicky Bee Finds does not treat uncertainty as something that needs to be hidden. When evidence is incomplete or conflicting, the uncertainty becomes part of the story.
The goal is to document what can reasonably be supported, identify what remains unknown, and preserve the research journey for future reference.
FROM STORY TO ARCHIVE
Research and documentation can turn a discovered object into a lasting record, connecting the documentary story with the object's broader history.
